It is a great pleasure to share this news.

They have recognized “antimicrobial ice” among the 10 scientific milestones in the Region of Murcia in 2020.

My congratulations to all the members of the “Cold and Food Safety Engineering” research group at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, led by Professor Antonio López, who have developed antimicrobial ice that increases the quality and extends the shelf life of fresh fish by more than 50%.

The patented technology uses nanotechnology to manufacture ice with nanoencapsulated essential oils.

And congratulations also to the other research groups honored with this mention.

The approval of antimicrobial ice is already being processed by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). We hope it can be marketed in the coming months.
